The day has finally arrived! Ron Jr. and his team tuned for 93 octane and then drove up to Michigan. I was kiteboarding most of the day but kept checking to see when they would arrive. They were stuck in traffic for over an hour in 95 degree heat but the car didn’t overheat. Good call on Ron’s part to put the dual fans, the extra large radiator and the intercooler on the car. Once Ron and Charlie had a chance to relax and I grabbed a beer for their troubles we went for a spin. Even with just the initial tune and still on break-in, so no hard acceleration or revs over 5,000 rpm, the car is amazingly quick.
The stock Viper already handles quite well, but the comp coupe sway bars and the moton shocks make a world of difference! The car drives like it is on rails and there wasn’t a corner we encountered where we had any body roll. Finally, the brembo brakes stop the car so quickly you have to be careful to tell the passenger or you will have to peel them off the dash. The Neez wheels make the car feel light and quick, much more so than stock.
Thanks again Ron and Charlie for driving the car up, but man it was hard to let it go back to the shop for the final tune!
